Meet the San Antonio Team Behind Thistledown Insulation San Antonio
Since 2003, this San Antonio crew has climbed into more attics than most people have driven past on Loop 410. Some of us grew up here, some landed here and stayed, but every one of us knows what a July afternoon does to a house with thin attic insulation. We’re an independently owned Cedarwell location, which means the people who show up at your door are the same people who answer for the work. No subcontractors, no rotating cast. Just the same faces, the same trucks, and the same standard on every San Antonio job.
Our People
Neil Barron, Owner
Neil founded Thistledown Insulation San Antonio in 2003 after spending years watching homeowners get talked into insulation they didn’t need. He still walks job sites personally, and he’ll tell you the R-value and the reason before he tells you the price. In fact, he won’t quote anything until he’s looked at your attic himself, because he says an estimate without eyes on the space is just a guess with a dollar sign. Neil’s the one who insists every customer gets a written price before any work starts, and he’s held that line since day one. Off the clock, he’s usually fixing something at his own place in Alamo Heights or trying to keep his two dogs out of the garden.
Maria G., Lead Technician
Maria has been running insulation crews in San Antonio for over a decade, and she’s the person we send when an attic has a problem nobody else has figured out. She’s certified in spray foam application and has installed every brand we carry, from Owens Corning to Demilec. Maria’s the one training our newer techs on proper depth checks and vent baffles, and she treats every attic like it’s her grandmother’s house. When she’s not on a job, she’s at her daughter’s soccer games over by Woodlawn Lake.
Tom W., Senior Installer
Tom joined Thistledown San Antonio about eight years ago after a career in residential construction, which means he understands how a house breathes from the foundation to the ridge vent. He specializes in air sealing and has a knack for finding gaps that other crews miss behind can lights and plumbing chases. Tom’s the quiet one on the crew, but homeowners on the North Side keep asking for him by name. He’s a big fan of the Rockwool product line for sound dampening, and he’ll happily explain why if you ask. Weekends, you’ll find him fishing at Canyon Lake.
Dana R., Service Coordinator
Dana is the voice you’ll hear when you call Thistledown Insulation San Antonio, whether it’s 2 in the afternoon or 2 in the morning. She’s been answering our phones for six years and knows the service area street by street, from Terrell Hills to Helotes. Dana schedules every job, confirms every arrival window, and makes sure the crew has the right product loaded before they roll. She’s also the one who keeps the 365-Day Done Right Promise on track if a callback is ever needed, though we’re happy to say those are rare. Dana has two rescue cats and genuinely loves when a customer calls back just to say thanks.
One Standard, Every Job
Every Thistledown San Antonio crew member works under the same non-negotiables, whether it’s a small attic top-off near McCreless Market or a full spray foam job in Stone Oak. We lay drop cloths across your hallway and wear shoe covers from the front door to the attic hatch. We ask before we move or touch anything. We keep tools quiet if someone in the house is sleeping. We choose pet-safe insulation products where a choice exists, so the dog can be home during the job. And before any work starts, you have a written price in your hand. Neil started this company on a simple idea: thistledown is the soft fluff of the thistle, one of nature’s lightest insulators. The name is a promise about how carefully we work. That promise doesn’t change from one San Antonio job to the next.
